"Reservoir Dogs" is a 1999 action film written, directed by Quentin Tarantino, and starring Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi, Lawrence Fishburne and Michael Madsen, about a hit squad of Los Angeles criminals that is hired to contract out a jewel-heist. The story revolves around two diamond-stealing "diamonds" (Mick) and a bank-robbing "Reservoir" (Mr. Blonde) who both team up with a third man to steal a valuable diamond. As the theft unfolds, the criminals fall into a battle of wits and violence, with a corrupt police captn, a pr of hitmen, a gun-toting ex-cop, a pr of undercover cops, and an unlucky pr of FBI agents thrown into the mix. The movie is filled with allusions to the Spaghetti Western genre. In its own style, the movie became a cult classic, and was voted the number one cult film by Time magazine.
Plot : Following their botched jewel heist, the gang's leader is taken into custody, where he recounts his version of the caper:
It starts with the guys taking orders from this big guy with a gun. The big guy tells them where to go and what to do, but then it gets weird, when he disappears. After that, there's a sequence where the robbers are all driving to the rport, and talking about how it's great to finally be in the big time. One of the robbers is kind of sarcastic, and says that the whole thing is a waste, because they're not going to make any money. But then we're told that the big guy didn't give any orders, he just left. The robbers get to the rport, and one of them says they got a lead on some diamonds, and they all go to see where the lead is. They see this guy selling them, but then he gets shot. This makes them think he's a dead end, but they find out it's not the lead. After that, there's another scene, in which the gang talks about a bank job they planned, but then the big guy shows up agn and says they have no job.
He says they all have to pay for their sins, and there's some scene where they say, "No one's going to get hurt," and "It's my money," and "We've done enough," and then the big guy shoots one of them and makes the others kneel down. Then, one of them gets up and stabs the big guy, who falls down, the guy stabs him agn and a third time, and the guy gets up and stabs him and the big guy dies. Then, there's another scene, in which one of the guys runs up to the big guy and says, "We'll get even, we'll get even," and then they chase him away.
This movie is interesting to me because it's a very good idea for a movie, but no one thought about it in a serious way. In some ways, it's quite similar to films like _The Sting,_ in which the audience knows the idea, but no one thinks about the idea too hard. This is a very good film, because a gang like that could be a reality for a movie. People like to watch movies like this, but no one really thinks about it. You would think about it too much. If you really thought about it too much, you'd get frustrated.
If you're thinking about it too much, and think you're a character, then you're not a character. You're thinking like an actor, which means you're thinking about the scene more than you're being in the scene. If you think too much, it makes you too intellectual. You're thinking about the scene, but you're not in the scene. Your mind should be in the scene. You're so concerned about what happens next, you forget what you're doing. You don't think about it. This movie has nothing to do with the idea, but it's a very good idea.
So, you see how it works? When you don't think too much, you're in the scene. When you're thinking too much, you're not in the scene. In a movie, there's no problem, and it's fine, but it can become too intellectual if it's not in the moment. This movie is not intellectual, but there's something, which is, yes, people in real life do think about revenge in this kind of situation, but not too much. You can think about it a lot, but when it comes down to it, you're not thinking about it too much because you don't think about it. You think about the character's life, but you think about it in the moment and that's what makes it work. If you say revenge is bad, I say revenge is what makes the difference between a good movie and a great movie. The character is not in control of the situation, the situation is in control of the character.
Actors, like people in real life, have the responsibility of telling the story in the scene. That's what they should be doing. An actor, if you get too intellectual, will not be in control of the scene. This movie is about control. It's not about control. It's not about power, it's not about anything. It's just about the control of the characters in the situation, and when they are not in control, things happen. The things that happen depend on the situation, but the person you want to punish depends on the situation, so it depends on whether you're in control or not. The movie is about how we're in control of this situation, and whether we lose control, whether we decide to keep it. There is a kind of responsibility you have when you act.

Although people have been comparing _The Color Purple_ to _Schindler's List_ (the comparison is inevitable, because both movies concern the holocaust, but the two have more to do with each other than the casual reader will realize), the story is one of the richest and most nuanced dramas of the past decade. _Color Purple_ also has some of the most inventive sequences of any film this year—a scene between Celie and her daughter which reveals a mother-daughter relationship that is full of unexpected moments and turns (an image of Celie on her knees pleading with her daughter on a bed, her eyes welling up with tears, her hands on her girl's shoulders—it's a truly powerful, moving image). _The Color Purple_ also has a haunting last sequence which recalls both _The Best Years of Our Lives_ (1946) and _The Day of the Locust_ (1975). This sequence, with the four women sitting together in the kitchen in front of an empty doorway, is one of the most emotionally wrenching parts of any movie. It's the kind of image that brings a lump to the throat.
What's fascinating about this movie is the way in which it deals with such a difficult topic—the subject of interracial relationships—and in such an entertning way. As a character, Celie gets to be funny and warm and sweet without being anything but human, which is in itself an impressive feat. The movie presents the topic in a way that you can believe. The dialogue is full of surprises. The characters in the movie are complex and real (at times one of the reasons we like watching movies is to
